Online WCB Policy Manual is primary reference source Submitted by the Alberta Workers' Compensation BoardSince many safety associations, labor and employer organizations use the WCB Policy Manual as reference information in training programs; we wanted to advise you of an important change. In late December, WCB will send the final paper update of the WCB Policy Manual. The update will contain a final reissue of every policy as well as key appendices for those people that currently have hard-copy manual binders. Effective January 1, 2004 the online Policies and Information Manual will be the official manual for the WCB-Alberta and the primary reference resource. In the future, anyone wishing to update their paper manuals may print amended policies from the website at www.wcb.ab.ca. The online Policies and Information Manual is updated each time the WCB Board of Directors approves a change. Policy amendments are announced on the website and links to changed policies are posted for at least 30 days. Anyone may register for an email notice of a policy change on the WCB website under Policy and Legislation by selecting What's New in Policy and signing up for Stakeholder Notification. As the WCB completes this transition to an electronic policy manual some enhancements have been made to the online manual. As of January 1, 2004 there will be:
To ensure access for Albertans, the WCB will maintain a small number of hard copy manuals at WCB office counters and at the 16 main library branches in Alberta. Librarians can also help anyone access the official policy manual on the WCB website from a library computer. We would appreciate your support in informing your trainers that these manuals can be referenced online and are not available to be ordered in hard-copy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Policy Development at (780) 498-7843 or send me a note or give me a call.
